The great shame of doing nothing with your life.

Living at this time in history in the Western World has many comparative advantages. And yet, when many of us are young we struggle to find our path, to even have a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Eventually one may find some form of work; a drudgery that if one were able would be abandoned in a second merely for idleness.

Dragging oneself out of this morass requires great effort. Some things can help, among them shame and inspiration. A person in these circumstances will find both in the following video of Manny Avalos, who after repairing a friend’s guitar was moved to understand the craftsmanship involved with creating one.

Shame that an 89 year old man whose life is almost over has more drive than you.

Inspiration that it’s almost never too late. You can start today.

Following I will include my favorite quote from the filmette which was made by the ‘Upland film company’..

“… my only regret is that I wish I had three lives to live to do all the things I would like to do. And there’s just not enough time. And you’re learning all the time …”
