Friday hawt chicks & links – The douchebag planet edition.

The Friday hawt chicks & links thread returns after a one week hiatus due to the miseries of moving. I’m still not out of the woods yet but the internets have returned so hopefully the worst is behind me. And even if I had had a connection last week that still would have made little difference as I lacked any time to scour the web for morsels of interest for my ravenous fans who crouch on the other side of their respective monitors around the world like mutant predators, their cavernous appetites for links and hawtness befouling the very atmosphere that surrounds their putrid forms.

Ya missed me, right?

On to it.

Tesla drivers are the automobile versions of iphone owners.

Question: How can you tell the difference between Elon Musk and an ordinary Tesla owner?

Answer: Elon Musk will eventually stop talking about his Tesla.

I can’t wait until humans begin to colonise space so we can have an official douchebag planet and just send them all there.

Oh look, more Tesla – A quarter of deposits for the new model 3 have been refunded.

In its latest earnings release, Tesla blamed order cancellations on “delays in production in general and delays in availability of certain planned options, particularly dual motor AWD and the smaller battery pack.”

In other words they may as well just have said, “our product sucks and our crappy business model means we can’t even keep your money.” Also, check out the photo of people buying Teslas that accompanies the article:

Soy boy city limits.

This week’s long form article for you to enjoy – The far side of the Vistula.

Lest anyone is still in any doubt about McDonnell’s leadership manoeuvres, they need only look down at the bottom left hand corner of the poster to see the little red rectangle which says: “red Labour, red Britain”. McDonnell is not only waiting for Corbyn to fall, he has already unilaterally rebranded the Labour Party (note the lack of the Labour red rose logo) and has ensured that its direction of travel is well to the left.

It was the first thing that I noticed about the image. Red Labour, Red Britain? They’re not even bothering to hide it any more. Could that American trollop who just married into the royal family be the modern version of Mary Antoinette?

California has passed a law making it illegal to shower and do your laundry on the same day.

Oh, and don’t worry, rich people. There will be “provisions for swimming pools, spas, and other water features.” So you can still have your pretty fountains and pools while the rest of the peons take 2 showers a week. One might wonder if ‘variances” will apply to the wealthy for their landscaping needs.

The control of resources has been a standard feature of all human civilizations. If you want to make money in a future California there could be a healthy market for black market water. Just sayin’.

Hey everyone – apparently recycling might just be a scam!

It has become an article of faith in the U.S. that recycling is a good thing. But evidence is piling up that recycling is a waste of time and money, and a bit of a fraud.

The New York Times recently reported that, unknown to most families who spend hours separating garbage into little recycling bins, much of the stuff ends up in a landfill anyway.

Some of us have been saying this for a very long time.

The Other McCain has a list of TV shows that he never watched.

I’m pretty sure I’ve never watched more than five consecutive minutes of How I Met Your Mother. I don’t enjoy most sitcoms, and that one in particular never interested me. Seinfeld was awesome, and I occasionally catch an episode of The Big Bang Theory, but in general, I can’t stand TV “comedy” from the past three decades. It’s too predictable.

He obviously hasn’t watched Fixer Upper yet.

Also, Melinda Gates is an SJW. Possibly the biggest and scariest one yet.

Obviously, I’m no expert on high-tech venture capital, but is it self-evidently true that “women and minorities” have a monopoly on “great ideas”? Because that seems to be what Mrs. Gates is implying: By “over-indexing” such ventures — putting a thumb on the scale, to discriminate against white males — she expects to make more profit. Or is profit even her goal?

Diverting herself from the fact that she married the lead actor from Revenge of the Nerds is her goal, for which we shall all suffer.

  1. See and all my friends and acquaintances were scoffing at me. I’m the sole owner of my wells, a de minimis extractor, and exempt from this latest nonsense. I made damn sure I owned all the surface and subsurface water rights to my land, and have no entanglements with anyone that might make me accountable to the California Water Board. There is no such thing as a safe or good government.

The people in the urban areas of California are screwed, as well as the big agricultural outfits. The good news is that housing prices in California should drop significantly so people can move to the urban areas to slowly die of thirst. If there is one thing you wanted to do to drive out illegal immigrants from California this would be it. It’s puzzling, but funny.

Mulholland must be spinning in his grave.

That picture of the Tesla shop says it all. Good lord, I don’t think you could photo-shop something that funny.

A Tesla is nothing but virtue signalling writ large. I see them from time to time around town. One passes me nearly every morning when I walk the dog. For awhile there, it had a whine like an old ford maverick with a busted tranny. Couldn’t help thinking I’d be livid if my $70K+ car did that.

I have a standard tack when discussing these cars with Tesla fanboys.
    1. On impact, sometimes the batteries go into a free fall reaction and ignite like a match.
    2. The doors are electric. Good remembering the manual procedure and getting out
    3. The Fire department dudes may or may not know how to kill the power.
    4. Oh…so you’re for strip mining, and hurting the earth. That’s where Lithium comes from.
    5. Oh…so you’re OK with child labor. You know who mines those minerals (like cobalt) in Africa? Kids. The parents don’t give two shits about the kid other than what they can earn.

You’re a nimby, outsourcing your pollution to poor countries so you can virtue signal.

I also have a yuge problem with gubmint subsidies for the thing. You want one? pay for it. BTW, they castigated Ford for a much lower per-instance of their cars bursting into flames. I’ve counted two or three Tesla immolations this year so far.

Telsa’s whole house battery backup is intriguing. I’d look harder at it, if I trusted them. I’m thinking a big honking diesel generator is cheaper.

I’m one of those tin foil nutters that have saying that recycling is a scam for decades. The same with plastic bags in supermarkets. It is all about pyschological conditioning/controlling the behaviour of the public.

They have been attempting the same rubbish with global warming rebranded climate change with little luck because the empirical evidence is so poor that even the sheep don’t believe it.

As for Tesla I find the whole thing very interesting I’m certain there’s more to it than just electric cars and batteries. The deep state needs private enterprises for off the book projects just ask Google or Lockheed.
